Dear, dear, Eternal Friends,
A lot has been happening in the world of Ruiz since I last posted. Where to begin?
Two new shows in April one in Minneapolis and one in Brooklyn!
The Minneapolis show on April 3rd, the first here since May 9th 2007, will feature my old guitar teacher Jim Ouska taking the lead chair for the evening. Rounding out the group will be permanent members Charlotte Crabtree on bass and Emily Ruiz on drums. The Starfolk will also play, a group with three people who have played on numerous LJRG recordings, Brian Tighe, Allison LaBonne and Steve Itner. Their dynamic cello player Jacqueline Ultan will join them. We will be performing at:
The Aster Cafe
St Anthony Main
125 SE Main St, Mpls
(612) 379-3138
The place is small so reservations are recommended. http://aster-cafe.com/index.html
The Brooklyn show on April 11th is part of a larger event, the three-night extravaganza Chickfactor 2012: for the love of pop. http://www.facebook.com/events/276417602419163/
I feel very fortunate to be able tell you that there are still some tickets left for our night, the second, as the first night has already sold out. Allison LaBonne will be taking on lead guitar and backing vocal duties along with her sister Charlotte. Other bands that evening will be Bridget St. John, Pipas and The Aislers Set and special unannounced guests are threatened. We will be performing at:
The Bell House
149 7th St, Brooklyn
